Christmas with a twist!

The best unconventional Christmas movies
Christmas with a twist!

We’ve all heard of conventional Christmas movies: Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and the Polar Express. But unconventional Christmas movies are the ones that make each holiday special and exciting.

I reviewed two of the most unconventional Christmas movies, including Die Hard and Edward Scissorhands, just in time to bring some entertainment to your holiday season. Any of these movies would be perfect to watch under a comfy blanket with some homemade sugar cookies.

The first movie that needs to be on your watch list this holiday season is Die Hard. The main plot involves a man attempting to save hostages held inside an office building during an office Christmas party. Throughout the movie, romantic and hostile tensions run high. The main character, John McClane, is fighting terrorists in an attempt to reunite with and win over his estranged wife.

Overall, Die Hard is a well-rounded, entertaining movie that is fit for adults and older teenagers because of some mature themes. The Christmas aspect isn’t as prominent as some of the other movies featured on this list, but it’s present with the inclusion of a joyful holiday party and snowy winter scenes.

The next movie to add to your holiday watch list is Edward Scissorhands. The movie is set in a small town, where a sheltered teenage girl named Kim falls in love with an unfinished science experiment of a man who’s fingers have been replaced with knives. The movie is full of romance and heartbreak as Edward attempts to fit into the family and celebrate Christmas, but his knives complicate things.

Edward Scissorhands is an eerie, saddening movie that expresses the traditional events of Christmas from the perspective of an outsider who desperately wants to fit in. A true heartbreaker for sure.

So grab your popcorn and your cozy blankets, because Die Hard and Edward Scissorhands are two of the best unconventional Christmas movies for you to watch this holiday season.
